The law moves; articles carry a date

Statutes are amended, decisions are overruled, compound rates and agency practice change. Every article carries the date it was last verified and describes the law as it stood on that date. The older that date, the more checking you should do before relying on the article — starting with the sources it lists.

General rules, specific facts

These guides describe how Malaysian law applies in the ordinary run of cases. Your case may not be ordinary. Outcomes turn on details — the exact words of a contract, the timing of a report, the state you're in (some matters differ by state, and matters within the Syariah jurisdiction follow separate enactments), or a recent decision no general guide has caught up with yet. Where an article's subject is contested or unsettled, the article says so; treat those flags seriously.

For decisions involving real money, your liberty, your livelihood or your family, use these guides to understand your position — then get advice about your actual case. If cost is the barrier, legal aid exists for exactly this: the Legal Aid Department (JBG), the National Legal Aid Foundation (YBGK) for criminal matters, and the Malaysian Bar's legal aid centres. Articles point to the relevant one where it matters.

Article-specific caveats

Some articles carry additional caveats in the block at their end — for example, where a legal point is genuinely contested, where a primary judgment could not be retrieved, or where the topic touches medical, tax or financial questions beyond a legal explainer's scope.
